CLD covers Adult Learning, Community Development, Family Learning, Outdoor Learning and Youth Work. We have a dedicated team supporting ESOL, Adult Literacy, Family work, Youth Work in the Schools and much more.

CLD uses a range of formal and informal methods of learning and social development with individuals and groups in their communities.

CLD is a value-based practice. CLD professionals have committed themselves to the values of self-determination, inclusion, empowerment, working collaboratively and promotion of learning as a lifelong activity.

CLD is delivered in diverse settings and sectors, by practitioners with a wide variety of job titles and volunteer roles, working with people of all ages.    This includes;

1. Community Development (building the capacity of communities to meet their own needs, engaging with and influencing decision makers);
2. Youth Work, family learning and other early intervention work with children, young people and families;
3. Community-based Adult Learning, including adult literacies and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL);
4. Learning for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in the community, for example, people with disabilities, care leavers or offenders;
5. Working with individuals and communities to improve their health and wellbeing;
6. Volunteer development;
7. Learning support and guidance in the community.
